Join us on a magical train journey into the Bavarian country-side where you will learn about the mystery and legends behind King Ludwig II of Bavaria and his castles. As we arrive in the Bavarian Alps, we’ll introduce you to the quaint village of Hohenschangau where King Ludwig II grew up and explain the beautiful surroundings and sights to you, insuring that you don’t miss a thing.
We’ll start by showing you the Wittelsbach royal family’s summer vacation home and hunting lodge, Hohenschwangau Castle. As you learn about it’s rich history and lavish inside, you’ll take in views of the Bavarian and Austrian alps next to the Alp lake, where King Ludwig II enjoyed personal performances of the famous Lohengrin opera by Richard Wagner.
We will then ascend the hill to Neuschwanstein Castle to enjoy the vast views of the Bavarian country-side as you enjoy a leisurely lunch-break at a traditional Bavarian restaurant and beer garden just beneath the towering walls of the castle. After lunch, before your tour in the castle, we will explore hidden and unfinished elements of the castle as we make our way to the postcard-perfect Marienbrücke where you’ll enjoy the best view of Neuschwanstein Castle.
Once your tour inside the castle is over we’ll descend the mountain using the waterfall gorge path, an extremely beautiful and amazing trail through the Bavarian alpine, leading us back to our return transportation to Munich.
